Mi Nueva Casa

Ok, so I have many stories, but today I will talk about my new place.  When I first moved here, I was staying at a very small hotel away from the hotel zone area.  Then  I stayed another 4 days with one of my bosses.  By the way, they had a sweet condo with a pool in a very nice area.  Anyway, I didn’t have all summer to pick out a place and it was a little intimidating, not really knowing what to expect with homes in Cancun.  They can be anywhere from a pile of bricks and some dirt somewhere(ok, I’m exaggerating a bit) to beautiful places on the ocean.  I needed to settle for somewhere in between…I wanted to find a place that felt like home that would be near things and it wouldn’t be a hassle to get to work.  I found a reasonable place for not much at all.  It would be considered like a town home in the US, but no yard or anything.  It has 2 bedrooms and 1 1/2 bathrooms.  I desperately wanted the 2 bedrooms, because I know that I will have plenty of guests…start planning your trips now.  I will let you know my vacation time soon.  What is really cool is that the owner of my house wants to learn English, so when we talk I TRY to speak Spanish and she does very well with speaking in English.  Her husband is a policia federal, so that is comforting.  I will tell you more about them later.  Oh, back to the house!  The only concern that I had at first was being able to get a bus or a cab around here.  With me having a broken foot, it’s not the best time to walk everywhere.  For the last 2 weeks, I was getting a cab to the main downtown area and then taking a bus to the hotel zone(if that’s where I wanted to go).  It is much cheaper and easier to take a bus(if you know which route goes where)…more stories on that later.  Finally today, I am happy to say that without any problems, I took a bus everywhere!! Yeah!!  This place really feels like home and I’m so happy to be here!

Hola World!

Hola everyone!

My name is Corinne Anderson.  I am new to this whole blogging thing, but will try my best to keep everyone updated.  For a little background on me…

I have lived in WI/MN area most of my life.  I did the usual college thing, then went into the Army.  I was on active duty for 1 1/2 years.  For the last remaining years I have been in Green Bay as a teacher.  There have been many more ups and downs along the way, yet I knew that I was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy overdue for a change. Let me clarify, I needed a huge change and a CHALLENGE!   I  have been to Mexico a bunch of times, yet never thought of moving here.  Long story, but here I am!  I am ready for the challenge!  I arrived on July 11, 2012.  I will try my best to keep you updated on my life here and maybe even entertain you in the process! haha  I have already had many stories and I will get to them.  Thanks in advance for all those who follow my blog!  Muchas Gracias!
